Dressing Up Jean Shorts

I love wearing jean shorts in the summer. When the weather gets sticky, sometimes I'm just not in the mood to pull on a pair of skinny jeans and have that restricting feel. Shorts are the perfect alternative when you're not in the mood to put on a dress, and yes they can be dressed up. Paired here with a silk top and heels I am ready to grab drinks with the girls!

I love the drape of this cross-over blouse. It adds just the right amount of interest and sexiness to an otherwise plain black blouse.

Although I would wear these cut-off denim shorts out for drinks, I still think they are a little too casual to wear out to dinner. Here, I changed into cobalt blue skinny jeans by Paige Denim to make my outfit a bit dressier. Cobalt is not only a huge color for the fall, but many denim companies are adding it as a basic wash to their denim lines. I love how it looks paired with black.
