Happy New Year/ Reflections of 2013

Happy New Year everyone!  I hope everyone had a fun New Years Eve.  I had a very low key night and rung in the new year having dinner with my love, my sister and best friend.  Because we chose a quiet dinner and it was freezing out, I decided to ditch the sequin dress I had initially planned on wearing and went with J Brand black skinny jeans and this Parker Sequin tank.  Since I am always cold, I threw on a blazer and added a little more sparkle to my outfit by wearing these earrings I recently purchased from Bauble Bar.

Reflecting back on 2013, I have to share that I've never been happier to have a year come to an end.  Last year was the hardest year I have experienced in my 33 years as it was the saddest and most frusterating time in my life.  They say things happen in threes but it seemed like the bad news just wouldn't stop.  I won't get into all the challenges I faced over the year but I will share the one that impacted my life the most, which was the passing of my father.  His life was taken suddenly last Febraury at age 59 and I still can't come to reality that he is actually gone.  Not only am I struggling with the sadness of never seeing my father again or getting the chance to tell him that I love him just one last time, but I am also struggling with the fact that he was gone so suddenly which makes me angry.  I haven't figured out who I'm angry at: God?  My Dad?  Myself? But that anger is there and it makes his death that much harder to understand and accept.  But trying my best to move on and reflecting on this experience, it made me realize that life is short and you should spend those days trying to do what you love.  Which is why I started this blog last June.  Fashion was constantly fulfilling my pastime, whether I was shopping, browsing online drooling over clothes I can only dream of someday wearing, reading magazines, or reading fashion blogs.  That is why I decided to start my own fashion blog.  It's not only an outlet for me to be creative and to challenge myself but also to share my love of fashion with my friends and readers and hopefully bring inspiration to your lives.

I know this past month I was absent from blogging which I want to apologize.  Between being sick, having my computer break down, and constantly being non stop with the holidays, I barely updated the blog.  I am sorry and promise this new year to not slack again.  I am very grateful for all of  my followers and those who take the time to visit my blog.  It is because of you that I get motivated and inspired to share my personal style and my love of fashion and I thank you for giving me the chance and opportunity to be creative and do something that I love and am passionate about.  I am looking forward to what 2014 has to bring and I have some exciting news to share with you all soon!

So thank you for reading and I hope you all have a happy and healthy new year and chase after your dreams.  I learned this year that life is too short so don't hold grudges, tell those who are close to you that you love them, don't take the small things for granted, and while you should dream big, do appreciate all the small things you have because you never know when they may be taken from you.

xoxo Rachael
