Navy Lace and Why I love Renting Dresses

Happy Hump Day everyone!  There is something about knowing that we are half way through the week that just puts me in a good mood.  I'm also happy to finally be sharing the dress that I wore to my brother-in-law's wedding a couple of weeks back.  You may remember that I was a little stressed out over deciding what to wear, since it was my first time attending a Chinese wedding, so I turned to my friends at Best Dressed Charlestown to find the perfect dress.  Best Dressed is a brick and mortar store, here in the Boston area, where you can rent designer dresses.  I love the fact that I can actually walk into the store, preview all the dresses first hand, and try them on before taking one home.  Although I was obsessed with the cape dress that I showed you in my previous post about the store (you can see the dress, and read all about Best Dressed here), I was looking for a dress that was more conservative, and ended up renting this David Meister navy lace beauty instead.  I love the simple cut, but the lace material and crystal detailing gave it a fun vibe.  Because I didn't want to compete with the details on the dress, I kept my accessories simple and layered on a few David Yurman bracelets.  Ever since I learned about Best Dressed, renting dresses has become my staple when attending special occasions.  Here are the top reasons why I love to rent:

1. I am able to wear designer dresses that are normally out of my price range.  With brands like Zimmerman, David Meister and Monique Lhuillier all at my disposal, I'm sure to feel like a princess for the night.

2. I never have to wear the same dress twice.  I don't know about you, but most of my special occasions always include the same groups of people.  I love that I can rent a different dress for each occasion, showing up in a new dress each time.  This is also a definite plus for photos!

3. I can experiment and step out of my comfort zone.  Because I'm only committing to the dress for one night/occasion, its fun to try a cut that I wouldn't normally pick.  Plus I can choose a style that is on trend, and not worry about it being out of style the next season.

4. I wear the dress then return it, no cleaning or storage is necessary.  I'm that person that takes forever to make it to the dry cleaners, and with renting, I can skip that step.  Best Dressed takes care of the cleaning and any minor repairs for you!

Have you ever tried renting?

  1. I love the thought of renting a dress. If I realistically look at my wardrobe and my formal wear and ask myself have I worn this more than once, the sad truth is no for most of them. SO basically why waste money purchasing when you can rent even a designer dress and look fab! Totally agree with you on this one!

  2. Okay I love that you can walk in and try them on! Why doesn't every town have this option. I would seriously do it for all my events. I love RTR but it is sometimes hard to know how things will fit. You picked a gorgeous dress.

  12. That dress is elegant and gorgeous! This is so beautiful and truly a great idea to rent it because spending a lot on a dress and only wearing it once or twice is just not reasonable!
